new family room at TechFak

At the beginning of the winter semester 2021/22, students and researchers at FAU with children will have a family room on the southern area of ​​the technical faculty from Monday to Friday (without prior registration). The room – it is room 0.231 in the MHB building – is equipped with a sofa, changing table, crib and a spacious play area with a play mat and a kids box. Of course, the room also offers workplaces with power connections for the parents.

The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) promotes the compatibility of academic career, studies and work with the role in the family and has already created rooms at several locations on the university campus that enable mothers and fathers to spend time with their children to spend at the university, to withdraw with their children or to be able to look after them.

The promotion of equal opportunities is also a particular concern of the German Research Foundation (DFG). This can be seen in the fact that she financially supports the design of the new family room within the framework of the international research training group GRK 2495 “Energy Conversion Systems”.
