Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. Weigel gets awarded with the Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse
We are proud of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. Robert Weigel for being awarded with the Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. He is considered to be one of the leading researchers worldwide in the field of technical electronics and was honored for his engagement and merits.
Bavarian Home Secretary Joachim Herman lauded Weigel with the following words: “Beyond pure science and research, you have been and (still) are extremely successful as an entrepreneur, a consultant, sponsor and expert and are involved in the relevant internationally and nationally leading scientific associations in an excellent way that goes far beyond the normal level and you have earned merits that are worthy of awards”
Herrmann emphasized Weigel’s involvement in the efficient organization of scientific conferences, panels and workshops, such as at the world’s largest high-frequency technology congress, the IEEE International Microwave Symposium of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s largest professional association for Electrical engineering, which has been held annually in the USA since 1993.
Weigel is also involved in numerous other functions, such as elected member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), Official Japan Prize Nominator and elected member of the Board of Directors of the IEEE Microwaves Theory and Techniques Society. In addition, Weigel continues to work intensively as a consultant for the sponsors of the EU, numerous European and overseas countries and, in particular, national institutions in Germany.
At EmpkinS he is the P.I. of subproject A03 which focuses on “Highly Integrated Localizable Wireless EMG Transponder”
