Our young researcher Dat Thanh Nguyen had the great opportunity to do an internship at Meta.  He worked on a project called “Dynamic Level of Detail”. This project aimed to develop a system that could dynamically adapt the resolution of a mesh based on the camera’s position. This innovation held significant potential, not only for his internship but also for his PhD project. By exploring the concept of simplifying mesh/point cloud, they could incorporate it as a pre-processing step to extend the coding range of the EmpkinS 3D human body hull compression, which he is working on as part of his doctoral research.
