Thank you to everyone who joined our second EmpkinS Writing Workshop on February 19 – this time focused on how to write a good paper.

Led by Prof. Anne Koelewijn, the session focused on what makes a strong scientific paper and why publishing high-quality research is particularly important. We walked through the IMRAD structure, clarifying the distinct role of each section – from the Abstract and Introduction to Methods, Results, and Discussion. This step-by-step walkthrough illustrated how the different components work together to form a coherent scientific paper. In the hands-on segment, participants compared well-written and less clear papers to identify the key drivers of clarity and readability.

The session concluded with dedicated time for focused writing and revision, allowing participants to directly apply the principles discussed and make tangible progress on their own manuscripts. In this way, the workshop combined conceptual insights with practical advancement of individual writing projects.

Many thanks to Anne for a fantastic workshop in the EmpkinS Writing Series!
