Julian Shanbhag at the UNSW in Sydney
I had the great opportunity to visit the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney from September to October this year. I joined Luca Modenese and his team at the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, focusing on Computational Biomechanics. The experience was truly amazing, as I had the chance to discuss and exchange ideas about our research with leading experts in the field.
During my research stay, I participated in regular team meetings and was in continuous exchange with Luca and his PhD students. It was very inspiring to get to know the research conducted by Luca’s team. I also presented my own research and engaged in intensive and fruitful discussions about it with the entire team. Additionally, I further investigated our postural control model and developed an extended gait model that includes additional sensory systems relevant to postural control, which are often neglected in current biomechanical models.
A big thank you to Luca and his group for hosting my stay and welcoming me so warmly; I really enjoyed this experience! I am also very grateful to the CRC EmpkinS team, as well as my supervisors, Jörg Miehling and Sandro Wartzack, for making this possible. This research stay was a very enriching experience for me, both personally and professionally. I am looking forward to the collaborations that will result from this visit to Sydney.
